Associate Professor Hotta received the ASJ Young Astronomer Award, which is given annually to at most three young researchers, under 35 years of age, who have made significant accomplishments in astronomy.

Associate Professor Hotta received the 2021 Chiba University Advanced Science Award, which is given to young researchers who have demonstrated high research ability, such as budding research or research with an original perspective, in order to contribute to the dissemination of highly original science and technology.

Associate Professor Hotta received the Outstanding Achievement Award for HPCI Research Proposals in the category of Physics, Particle Science, and Astronomy for the proposal "Exploration of thermal convection and magnetic field activity in low-mass stars (proposal number: hp190070)" at the 7th HPCI Research Announcement Meeting.

An article, "Prospects of Neutrino Astronomy with IceCube", contributed by Prof. Shigeru Yoshida and Prof. Aya Ishihara, is published in the November issue of "Tenmonogeppo".

From October 2020, the Center will be reorganized as an independent, university-wide center from the Institute of Science. It will promote research and education activities as Chiba University's flagship research center, and operate as a research organization open to the global research community.

A new book by Prof. Shigeru Yoshida, Director of ICEHAP Center, "Shin Uchu Neutriono no Hakken (Discovery of Deep Space Neutrinos)" has been released from Kobunsha Shinsho. The motivation for writing this book and some interesting episodes are posted on the Kobunsha Shinsho website.

A research group led by Yosuke Matsumoto, project associate professor at our center, and Takanobu Amano, associate professor at the Graduate School of the University of Tokyo, has clarified the mechanism of the production of "seed" particles (the "first step"), which has been the greatest challenge in the acceleration of high-energy cosmic-ray electrons, and published their results in Physical Review Letters.
