IAU B1 Newsletter No.0 Dear colleagues, We are happy to greet you on behalf of the IAU Commission B1 “Computational Astrophysics”. We shall do our best to promote the field of computational astrophysics and to strengthen its ties with other branches of astrophysics and astronomy in general. All the formal information regarding Commission B1 members and the Organizing Committee can be found on the Commission web-page at https://www.iau.org/science/scientific_bodies/commissions/B1/ Also, we are now at the process of preparing a dedicated Commission B1 web-page, and your suggestions on the web-page content are also most welcome. Its address is http://www.icehap.chiba-u.jp/IAU_B1/ As a part of the commission agenda, we intend to establish a newsletter to relay important news pertaining to computational astrophysics, like conference announcements, job opportunities, etc. Also, the newsletter will be used to distribute abstracts of accepted papers and defended theses related to computational astrophysics. In this Issue#0, we would like to inform you about a suggestion to hold a conference on Computational Astrophysics in Sep 2019 in Saint-Petersburg (Russia). Also, we are now preparing a proposal for the IAU Symposium to be held in June 2020 in Paris, France. A preliminary title for the symposium is “Prediction power of computational astrophysics as a discovery tool”. Chairs of the SOC are Dmitry Bisikalo, Tomoyuki Hanawa, Christian Boily, and James Stone. A chair of the LOC is Edouard Audit. Proposed topics for the symposium are the following: planets and exoplanets; strong gravity: accretion disks, jet, gravitational waves; star formation; large scale structure and galaxy formation; new computational tools and data mining.
